Deep Space 36 (DS36)

Deep Space is a talker based on Worlds v1.0. Worlds evolved from Neil Robertson's NUTS 2.3.0, thanks to JKurtz, Deep Space's head programmer (not a shrink).

DS36 is the only talker that contains full room editing capability from within the framework of a NUTS-based talker. DS36 also incorporates the concept of "longer mail messages" from Nuts 3.x, but written to look like pine (an email program under Unix). Basically, it's a different kind of talker... WORLDS apart from the rest.

Special Thanks to...

We are working on a web interface for the talker. Although Netscape 3.0 and above may be able to handle the Applet satisfactorily, their decision to not support the platform that is serving this document means that I will not support the web interface for Netscape.

That having been said, the web interface will be

Although I am planning to create some graphical maps, I also plan to maintain the text versions, both within the talker (in the .map command) and on the web. While the graphical maps are not ready, the text maps are, to some degree. They are... here. When you selet that link, you'll have to click back to return here.... :-)

Our Sister Talker, GlobeChat

Deep Space 36 is not alone in our GlobeGate Mudiverse. We are happy to support our new baby sister, GlobeChat... or maybe more like Siamese twins, really. They are run by the same program simultaneously, which makes coding simple, i.e. changes to one affect the other and vice-versa. Likewise, all accounts are shared between the two systems. GlobeChat's primary goal is to facilitate multilingual communication in a networked environment. Deep Space is (by design) a "project talker", designed to showcase the potential of NUTS as a multi-user interface. Its purpose is to facilitate interaction among students, faculty, etc. and to provide a unique environment for both recreational and educational communications online.
